General Superintendent

Oversees all phases of a construction project from initial planning to completion

The General Super oversees all phases of a construction project from initial planning to completion and is responsible for managing the Ashton field team  They direct and oversee the Ashton field team, such as Supers, Foremen, and other site leads to ensure a project is delivered per the contract schedule and that all quality control and safety standards are met. 

The General Super performs the following activities:

  • Review construction plans and specs prior to the Handoff Meeting to identify scheduling milestones, potential issues and staffing requirements.  
  • Develop initial construction schedule and identify potential procurement or resource issues.
  • Develop site logistics plan 
  • Participate in regular meetings with project teams to provide support, guidance, and evaluate risk
  • Ensure safety standards per company Best Practices and OSHA standards are implemented at job-sites and that on-site team is enforcing it
  • Coordinating and scheduling labor assignments for each week’s projects & tasks according to Project Schedules via the Field Leaders and Project Managers.
  • Overseeing & implementing project quality standards for the project and ensuring they are being upheld.
  • Implement & oversee company training for field personnel, such as Superintendent & Foreman Training and Safety & Equipment Inspections
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor awareness and expectations of job-sites
  • Oversee & manage company shop area, company tools, and company equipment
  • Communicate to the Preconstruction Manager, Project Managers, and others of opportunities or issues in regards to production, technology, budgets, etc.
  • Uphold high customer service standards through personal leadership and managed employees
  • Promote the company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as they relate to customers, suppliers, employees and the public
  • Assist in the resolution of scope conflicts
  • Review PTO requests from the field team
  • Strengthen jobsite culture according to Ashton’s core values
